In a nut shell: access to decision makers. Hiring managers and HR personnel at medical device companies are bombarded with resumes so a recruiter will help “promote” your resume. They will also highlight your skills and make it easier for the hiring manager to make a decision on whether or not you’re a good match.

If that’s not enough, here’s a list of other reasons:

• According to Coopers & Lybrand, executive recruiters fill about 64% of all vacant positions.

• Recruiters have access to the hidden medical device job market. Many medical device jobs are not advertised and are turned over to recruiters for confidential search.

• They can match your skills with current assignments they’re working on for a more focused job campaign.

• They will, most likely, help you match your skills from other industries and help you tailor your resume for medical devices.

• For the most part, there is no cost to working with recruiters as they are paid by the hiring company.

Again, access to decision makers is reason enough for medical device professional to use a recruiter especially in this tough market.

Onward through the fog.
